Hi there!

My name is Kait and I live in NJ with my husband by the shore. I have a huge love for the beach - the water, the sand, and the shell and sea glass collecting. Sassy Scallop Designs was born as a creative outlet during my prior career in Air Traffic Systems as a test engineer. When lockdown started and I was on break from work travel, I realized I needed a hobby that didn't require leaving the house but could be fun. I started by getting back into floral arrangements and wreaths. Then I decided I wanted to go into jewelry next because everyone loves jewelry! What started as bangle bracelets has now turned into quite a wonderful little business filled with so many different goodies but mainly jewelry. After being unexpectedly laid off in early 2025 after nine years in my career field, I decided to give Sassy Scallop a huge boost and dedicate the majority of my time to growing this side hustle into a full-time small business with big goals!

I still make almost every piece of jewelry in my booth and in my store. I also make the majority of my ornaments as well as the very well-known Oyster Trees everyone has come to know and love. I believe in having a wide variety of products so that there's something for everyone which is why you'll find other small businesses in my spaces. I have hand picked these artists, makers, and small businesses because of their quality products and creativity.  I hope you love their products as much as I do!
